3 Reasons Why Reviving Your College Blog is a Bad Idea

Yeah, that’s right, I’m shoving this blog in the microwave and serving it up just like grandma used to make! (I’m hoping for results slightly better than death warmed over.)

Having graduated from a mere college intern to full-time “only adulting when absolutely necessary” member of the millennial workforce, I’ve decided to give this blogging thing another shot. Why? In part because blogging is a big part of my career as a marketer now, so if I have to do it, I might as well write what I want; and also, maybe just a little, to prove something to myself. Stay tuned to see what happens.

So about that title. I’ll admit, it was a cheap clickbait ploy. But hey, you’re already into the third paragraph, so the joke’s on you. Here are the three reasons why reviving your college blog is probably a bad idea (but you should totally do it anyway):

Reason #1: Nobody cares what you have to say!

Blog until your fingers bleed!

This may be true… right now. But if there’s something you are truly passionate about, even if you’re just writing it down to get it out of your head, DO IT! Chances are there’s someone, somewhere that is thinking, wondering or ranting about the very same thing, and is just itching to read and talk more about it.

Reason #2: You’re just SOOOOOOOO BUSY.

Ok, let’s get real. I am the first person to admit guilt with this cop-out. I work 60 hour weeks without blinking (mostly due to lack of sleep) but if I’m honest with myself, I spend more time mindlessly scrolling Facebook and Instagram than I should during my precious “me time”.  My point is, despite being just SO busy ALL of the time, here I am taking a leap of faith and writing a damn blog instead of looking at pictures of your lunch, workout, dog, or baby. #SorryNotSorry

Reason #3: What’s in it for me?

This will obviously be different for everyone, but if you’re even considering starting a blog you’re probably not far off from answering this question already. Have an idea that’s been burning a hole in your brain? Got a question that Google just isn’t answering? Write, share and get the conversation going. The answer just might come to you!

So there it is, guys. No bells or whistles (though I hope you approve of my GIF selections). I’m gonna give this blogging thing a shot, wherever I can fit it in my SO INCREDIBLY MONUMENTALLY SUPER BUSY LIFE. What do you think? Would you start a blog? If so, what would you write about? Let’s hear it!
